Education

Cybersecurity is a rapidly advancing field. To stay ahead of the curve, you must have the right skills—and that means being armed with the most advanced tools for identifying and mitigating threats to our infrastructure, data, and operations.

At GW, we're committed to preparing students for careers in cybersecurity by providing them with courses from which they can build a foundation in the field. Our programs are designed to help students become leaders in the fields of cybersecurity through their coursework in areas such as AI-enabled cybersecurity solutions, computing security frameworks and policy, cyber defense, risk management, and intelligence analysis across domains.

In addition to our coursework, we also offer research opportunities for students interested in pursuing careers in academia or other research-oriented professions after graduation.

GW College of Professional Studies

GW’s College of Professional Studies leads the conversation about cybersecurity attacks that threaten the security of both public sector and private sector organizations. Designed in consultation with key government, military and law enforcement organizations, our Cybersecurity Bachelor’s and Cybersecurity Strategy and Information Management master’s program(s) are designed for working professionals. Our programs examine risk, policy, practice and intelligence-led cyber defense issues to create the next generation of cybersecurity’s strategic leaders.

GW School of Business

GW’s School of Business brings a unique interdisciplinary lens to the subject of cybersecurity. For example, our faculty researchers analyze the risks of cyber disruptions using expertise in decision sciences and operations research. We also provide courses in topics focused on the security of emerging technologies such as cloud architecture through our graduate certificate programs in Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Applications and Information Technology, as well as our STEM-designated MBA programs. Our MBA in Security Technology Transition (MBA-STT) program places a special emphasis on cybersecurity in its course delivery. Established through a designation granted by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate, the MBA-STT program was designed for students who wish to combine their backgrounds from STEM fields with the knowledge they gain from the GW School of Business to apply it to the commercialization of technologies that can benefit the public sector.
